    idk really

and about leaders commiting to 1 type of pokemons
    that can be changed
i only thought that leaders may choose certain pokemons (which are the best) for their team
for example, we might see 5/6 leaders with draonite ...
    or Lv 100 alakazam
that's so hard to beat ...

my thought is that none of the leaders could use the same pokemon ...
each leader with his own team

that's why i prefer they stick with the same type ...

imagine facing Alakazam (with recovery lol) 4/5 times and maybe more ...
Alakazam? any non fighting pokemon with earthquake will probably KO it.
Dragonite? Any pkmn with a SP att higher than average and Ice punch or ice beam will beat the sht out of it.

Thanks for your intelligent input sweetheart, why don't you get me another drink.

i'm not saying that those 2 are the only strong pokemons
i'm just saying i don't think it's a good idea for several leaders to have same pokemons

    Sorry for using "you're" awhile ago...what a fail.. -_-
Anyways, I get what you are trying to say Kays. It can work like that (having their each types) but it would be easier if they get to choose their party (even if a lot of them has an alakazam or something).

This whole thread is a suggestion atm so as new ideas pop up, it would be better is you edit the first post Kays or make a simple presentation that will properly outline the idea (it's up to you if you wanna pursue this)..Still, one of the best ideas for an ingame challenge..

Players are free to make their own line up, I can see plenty of Gengar, Swampert, Tyranitar, Amphaross, magmar/entei/Arcanine, blissey set ups.

Most teams are made from overused tiers, I can see why gymleaders would use them and the chances are that you get the same pokemon, as long as the teams differ it doesnt really make a massive difference.

*soz for sounding so negative, but I just would like to see the best result on this idea

I think this is a great idea, but we shouldn't stick to the layout of the gym leaders. Leaders in this tournament should be allowed to pick any pokemon they like, because if we limit them to certain types, then we are back to just another set of gyms. Which is nothing new...

But if they can make any 6 pokes their team than that would be a real challenge. Having the chance to go up against the best and strongest players does sound like a lot of fun. Of course some way pokes must be limited to avoid the same team showing up 8 times (eg: each poke can only be used by a maximum of 3 Leaders), and Leaders would have to discuss their teams among themselves to make sure they keep up variety

there is 1 simple flaw in the whole idea

what happens when you reach the Elite 4

well it must be hard to get there, because u might be considered 1 of the Best 4 Trainers in the game.
when u get there. what will happen ?
and if there are 8 leaders
how can a challenger become a leader ?
if this is gonna work, there should be changings in leaders/elite 4
    by battles ...
so a leader/elite will have to fight for his place to prove that he deserves the spot.

    what are your thoughts ?

Hmmm... let's see what I can say about it
Okay this might be terribly long and messy and complicated.. Keep up with me and help me clear it up though

First we need to find ourselves 8 leaders, since leaders can change up quite a bit it's not really important who we pick first.

If you beat all 8 leaders, you will become a leader. If there are 8 leaders then the leader with the worst record will lose his right to be the leader and the person who won against all 8 will become a leader. If there is a tie between the leaders with their records, then either whoever loses next time will be out (among the tied ones) or they can just play a tie breaker battle. This way leaders will keep fluctuating, and only the best will stay.

There should be a thread, where you can track the pokemons of each leader (we could allow 8 pokemons per leader to make it less predictable? ). If you become a leader than you have to make your own list of pokes (by looking at the other leader's pokes, keeping limits on the pokes) and post it in the thread. Leaders can change their list after each week of being a leader.

    Elite
Elites will be allowed to have 10 pokemons and are not limited by limiting rules on leaders (whatever these rules might be). At the end of each week (after there are 4 Elites) Elites will battle in a round-robin style tourney. The last placed elite will switch place with the leader with the best record.

    Challenging
Any player can challenge the leaders, but they have to state it clearly that they want a Challenge.
Leaders can be challenged once a day per player.
Leaders can't deny a challenge (they can heal and get ready ofc).
Leaders will also be responsible for keeping record of all the challenges they had (there should be a thread for it)

Once you have beaten 8 leaders you have the option to choose between becoming a leader or challenging the Elite. There will be another thread for this, where you have to make it clear, that you want to become a leader or Challenge the Elite. If the player decides to Challenge, then he has to battle with all the Elites, if he can beat all of them (maybe 3/4), then he becomes one of the Elite and the Elite will have to battle to see who falls out. The weakest Elite will become a Leader, and the weakest Leader will lose his place.

Uhh... mess right ? what do you think?

actually Gen ... you fixed lots of stuff i was wondering
and i love all your ideas

i like that each leader and elite has a record
    that could really work
rules will be tough for newcomers ... but they will get used to it.

it'll be a long journey for this tournament

    but i say ... it shouldn't be a tournament
    it's a journey itself
    this must continue ...
    it will always be competitive
and i bet that lots of players really want to prove themselves as one of the best

    way to go gen
